Detail, a startup specializing in video recording and editing applications for Mac and iPhone, has unveiled an exciting new multiplayer feature. This update allows users to effortlessly record a multi-camera podcast using two iPhones (or iPads) wirelessly. Beyond simple recording capabilities, the feature also automatically synchronizes video and audio feeds between the devices, eliminating the need for extensive editing.
The updated Detail app for iOS offers several layout options for editing the podcast, including side-by-side, picture-in-picture, and full-screen formats. This makes it easy for creators to switch between different layouts and create professional-quality podcasts in no time.
Detail initially launched its Mac app on the App Store in 2022 after a successful year-long public beta testing phase. The startup had already released its iOS app earlier this year. The iPhone app boasts a range of features such as easy templates, tools for reaction videos, tutorial videos, and video resumes. It even includes a live green screen editor, AI captions, and teleprompter functionality. On the other hand, the Mac app enhances video editing with AI-generated video descriptions and hashtags.
Users have the option to record audio using their iPhone’s built-in microphones or connect external lavalier microphones to achieve better sound quality. The Detail app captures both audio and video locally before syncing them together seamlessly. This is particularly helpful for those who don’t have access to external audio interfaces or mixers for separate audio tracks.
While platforms like Zoom and Meet allow users to record calls, Detail founder Paul Veugen believes that podcasts should offer more than just standard video call recordings. Veugen explains that Detail’s goal is to provide users with fully edited podcast episodes that can be shared instantly while also creating engaging short-form content that helps creators reach a wider audience across various platforms. By simplifying the process of setting up cameras and recording on a Mac down to just a few taps on iOS devices, Detail aims to make professional video accessible for everyone.
Veugen also mentioned that Detail plans to roll out additional features in the near future, such as remote recording, AI-powered auto-editing (recently introduced for Mac), and AI highlight clips for the iOS app. These updates will further enhance user experience and streamline the creation of high-quality content.
Since its inception, Detail has secured $7 million in funding from notable investors including Adjacent, TQ Ventures, Point Nine Capital, Connect Ventures, Hustule Find, Alexander Ljung, Anke Huiskes, Hiten Shah, and Sten Tamkivi. With ongoing advancements and a strong backing of supporters, Detail is poised to remain at the forefront of innovative video recording and editing technology.
